Structure of cellulose phenyl carbonates (schematic)
Organo-soluble and reactive cellulose derivative that represents a platform compound for a broad variety of novel cellulose-based materials. Cellulose phenylcarbonate can be easily and efficiently modified by reactions with a broad variety of nucleophiles. Cellulose-phenylcarbonate is soluble in DMSO, DMF, and DMAc at DS of 1.0-1.1 and in THF, acetone, chloroform, and toluene at a DS of 3.
